Daylight come and me want go home~

I've decided to give blogging a go again; who knows, third time's the charm and maybe this one will actually stick around.

Lately the weather's been an inferno. According to the thermometer Malaysia has been hitting highs of 35 degrees celcius for the last week. Add our infamous humidity and the mosquitoes and you've got a recipe made for irritation and snippy snappy people. God bless the man who invented the fan because otherwise my goose is cooked. And while the weather's been a blessing for drying clothes out (mum and I can dry two batches of clothes in a day with these scorching heat) it hasn't been the best for anything else, especially physical work, and bananas (more on that later). Kudos to my mum for all the care she gives her plants, no matter the heat I'll always see her out in the garden every evening. As my brothers and I joke, she's got to make sure her second children are alright.

That's the second big thing I miss about Australia actually: the weather. The first will always be the friends I made there (shout out to fellow Goldsteinians!) but what I would do to have some of that nice breeze from Sydney up here in KL. Yes, I know Australia was baked brown that one week where temperatures hit 40 degrees and higher, but between one to two weeks of being fried and being fried all year round at the average of 33 degrees celcius, then I really don't see why I shouldn't be on team Australia this time. Of course, you could argue about winter; the coldest Aussie winter I endured was 7 degrees celcius. But after the Hungary trip last year I swore to myself that I would never complain about cold ever again. 7 degrees C was a god-sent in Europe. I don't know how people survive in negatives, but that might just be the "jakun" KL girl in me speaking.

But anyway! Yes, the breeze from Sydney would be wonderful, thanks! If someone could somehow mail weather, I'd order boxes and boxed of Sydney breeze and use it around the house. Alas, the days when I could take a casual walk without bursting into perspiration are long gone. Treasure your climate, Aussies!

Also, the bananas. I think this blasted weather must be ripening the bananas at an accelerated rate. I'm no scientist, and I made a rather poor Science student in high school, but I'm pretty sure the heat is cooking my yellow fruit faster than you can sing the Banana Boat song. I just bought a bunch four days ago; they were even green at the stems, but just four days in the Malaysian heat and voila! Brown patches. Maybe I should just switch fruits, because this weather is clearly going nowhere!

Now for more serious matters. Jobs. I'm still sadly unemployed, but I've got a call from a bank! I've passed the first interview, the personality test, but now I've got to prepare and present a short presentation. The catch? I won't know what topic I'll be getting till two days before the presentation. I guess they'd like to see how I handle things in a stressful and rushed environment (given how things go in the banking industry, I'm not surprised). So far my preparations involve the following:
  • looking up nice templates on Microsoft Powerpoint
  • talking to myself in the mirror to practice my speech and delivery
  • praying
That's all I think I can do so far, but if anyone's got a recommendation, I'd love to hear it!

Also, I'm considering to apply to another bank, not for a management training programme, but for a more specific job. It is what I'd like to do, but I need to smarten up my CV before I submit it. Which reminds me that I should be doing that now, instead of blogging. Whoops.

Ciao i miei amici e ci vediamo.
